My 5am Drama

Murphy's Law has become a friend of mine lately. I refuse to call it bad luck, because I don't want pity and believe we make our luck.

My car battery died. And it was ALL MY FAULT. I totally left the lights on. Personally I blame Nissan and their automatic headlights feature ;-) But really, I am a natural blonde and still have my moments occasionally.

My plane was set to leave for Boston at 6:25am. I had attended a party and stayed up late chatting, so I made the decision early to stay down in San Diego rather than drive two hours to spend two hours at home. I went to the studio to get some work done and be up in time for my flight.

At 5am, my car wouldn't start. I sat there in the drivers seat, willing it to start on its own for 15 minutes. No luck. I searched for a secuirty guard. Nothing. Then I remembered...I think I have roadside assistance from USAA. And alas, 45 minutes later a truck was there to jump me!

But I missed my flight. In my (almost) 30 years of traveling I have never missed a flight like this! There was the infamous Skittles incident when I was 12 (story for another day) but that doesn't count ;-)

I called US Airways in a panic. They calmly reassured me that I can re-book no problem or go stand-by a little later. SO here I am at the airport, arriving in Boston 5 hours later than planned but happy that I have zero plans for the next 6 days (except an engagement shoot on Saturday!)

See you in Beantown!!!
